compression + data striping
Is it possible to do data striping and compression with one dataclass?

Yes.
Striping is specified in storage class and compression is specified in data class.
The data class must specify "Data Set Name Type" is EXT or the DD statement must specify DSNTYPE=EXTREQ or EXTPREF.
The data class also must specify "Compaction" is T or G. I recommend G, for generic, because it generally gives better compression.
To get striping, the storage class must specify Sustained Data Rate. The book says "if the SDR field is blank or 0, the target number of stripes is 1. If the value in the SDR field is greater than 1, it is divided by 4 for 3390s, or by 3 for 3380s to determine the stripe count."
