SPFLOG1.LIST to the Rescue
One can quickly lose track of dataset copies, moves, renames, and deletes especially when working under the gun and/or not being organized. Keeping the actions in your head is relying on short-term memory – sure you want to do that? And keeping notes on paper is time consuming and inaccurate.

SPFLOG1.LIST to the rescue. But it must be turned on first. Go to ISPF option 0 - Settings, Hit the Log/list dropdown at the top of the screen and choose option #1 - Log Data set defaults.

Choose option 3 to keep your log dataset and verify that a number for primary and secondary pages is specified else it won’t work.

Test it by updating a dataset or a member of a PDS, then go to option ISPF option 7.5 and an audit trail will appear.

The only better way to keep track of such dataset manipulation is via a batch job.
