Apply Now for the 2014 Destination z Scholarship

Applications are now being accepted for the 2014 IBM Destination z Enterprise Computing Scholarship. Students who attend U.S. post-secondary schools that are members of both the Academic Initiative System z and Destination z are eligible to apply. (Email zskills@us.ibm.com if you are not sure if your school is a member of either of these programs.)

Applicants must demonstrate excellence in their enterprise computing coursework and have plans for continued growth on the mainframe platform in their academic and professional careers. Applications are due by Dec. 12, with winners announced in early January 2015.

Applications are judged by a committee of IBM Academic Initiative team members and representatives of the companies that sponsored the scholarship. The highest-scoring student will receive the Greg Zaubi Memorial Scholarship, named after the Marist College systems programmer who spent the latter part of his career connecting thousands of students and professors worldwide to System z, through the mainframe Knowledge Center hub he administered for years in partnership with the IBM Academic Initiative System z.

In 2013, Northern Illinois University’s Mark Abermoske won the scholarship program's top honor, the Greg Zaubi Memorial Scholarship, totaling $1,000. All told, 12 honorees were chosen from 40 applicants last year. This year, IBM, INNOVATION Data Processing, Rocket Software and Vicom Infinity have donated to the scholarship fund.
To donate to the scholarship fund, visit the scholarship page. If you'd like to become involved in the Destination z Enterprise Computing Scholarship as a sponsor or if your school isn't a member of Destination z, contact me at zskills@us.ibm.com.
