Destination z to Feature Skills Coverage in September

September means back to school, a fresh start and continued learning. With that in mind, Destination z is devoting the entire month to content focused on mainframe skills, including articles, blogs and forums. No matter your years of service or job level, we have something for everyone. Skills topics include mentoring, modernization, training and education.

Get started today by heading to our forums and let us know your thoughts on topics I have started, or start your own. Current discussions include:

  1. What is one piece of information you wish you had when starting out in a mainframe career?
  2. What do people hiring new mainframers want them to know?
  3. What manual/guide/tool/etc. been the most helpful in your job that can also help others?
Be sure to read the mainframe skills special report IBM Systems Magazine produced in collaboration with SHARE. The special report details the findings garnered from more than 1,400 responses from mainframers. The majority of respondents agreed that the mainframe skills gap exists and is growing. To learn more about the survey results, as well as the ways in which the mainframe community is addressing the skills shortage, view the mainframe skills special report.

Don’t forget to visit our Resource Center, which features information ranging from reasons to upgrade to z/OS V2.2, IBM Redbooks videos and how to get the most out of social media to help with work.

Come back throughout September as we will feature a variety of skills-related content, or get started today sharing your experience in our forums by logging in to your Destination z account. If you aren’t already a member of Destination z, please join today. Your membership allows you to participate in forums, comment on articles and receive the DzInsider monthly e-newsletter.
